Hypermania

I'll admit, this one was a struggle.

Everybody says the feeling of flight is so good, it's fun to be in the air, blah blah blah. I got over my fears once upon a time, but Really Bad Trauma set me back very far. The first time I flew after the trauma, I had a panic attack on the plane and was terrified we would fall. And I had no coping skills, so I had to just sit there, alone in the dark.

The only thing that kept me company was that EDM artist Madeon had just released his new album, and I was hearing it for the first time. Whenever I hear that album, whenever I hear those songs, I remember being trapped in a tin can thousands of miles above the earth. It is not a particularly pretty reminder, but that was the worst things ever got. It's a reminder that it can only get better from here on out. 

I had the idea for the piece from the beginning, but most of it was done today due to being out of town. I changed some of the original chord structure to fit Lydian better, and I know the mix needs work -- the nuances of real instruments still boggle me in ways MIDI doesn't. But it's here, and that's a something.
